Yos everybody!! Are any of you going to the Anime Expo in the Anaheim Convention Center? It will be lots of fun. Let me know what you think. If you are going, are you going to cosplay?

I'm planning on volunteering for FUNimation at Anime Expo however, I'm having second thoughts. T_T

This will be my second time attending Anime Expo and I wasn't prepared for those long lines. Eh. At least I'll know what to do.

Anyways, I am definately going there... with or without volunteering for FUNimation.

I will be there. I have already preregisterd.. i did it the day they opend up preregistration ^^ this will be my first anime con and im excited. as far as cosplay.. im going as my original character Kittie Kyo... I might wear some Gothic Lolita fashion since my mom is a Gothic Lolita model. She is coming to AX too and Mana from Malice Mizer might come. the band broke up a while back but there greatness and manas has never faded. mom knows mana from school. also mom is brining along some of her friends who are top designers in the gothic lolita fashion. if you want more info, send me a message. ~Kittie

A note to anyone planning to attend: Bring tons of food with you. The food around ACC sucks, and is far too expensive.

I starved for two days last year. ;-;

I'm doing pre-reg in a few days, and I might just be going as a white mage again. It's rumored that Man Faye will be allowed back in, so things'll be far more offbeat. On a sad note, though, next year it's slated to shift back to Long Beach. Last time AX was there, the Fire Marshal got pissy and we all had to stand in a line that ran a few blocks just to get into the exhibit hall. And it was ~100 degrees farenheit.

Not to mention, most of the movie equipment in LB tend to break down easily.

It's best then, to just go the vwery last day. You'll get a feel for the flow, and won't be so overwhelmed. All you mainly do is walk around the exhibit hall, attended a few events, and lose tons of cash.

Mm, I know I'm definitely going, to meet my friends and boyfriend (whom I've been with for a year and three months now).

The only con I've ever went to was Otakon and that was two years ago, with my best friend, and other friends that I've met in a forum. Other friends and my boyfriend are from said-forum as well, so this'll be the first time meeting them.

XD As for cosplaying ideas, I'm still not sure. The first and last person I've cosplayed was Karla from Fire Emblem 7 (AKA the first Fire Emblem here in the US). But... I did make somewhat of a final decision to cosplay as Kairi from Kingdom Hearts II.

OMG! Go as Aziraphale! Okay, I know, I know, not anime, but still!!! And find yourself a Crowley! I would love you forever if you did ;_; Good Omens cosplay would just be winz. I would do it myself if I wasn't already over on my cosplay budget. It wouldn't be hard either. A sweatervest, some trousers, a white dress shirt, tie and a pair of wings and a book and your all set!

Aziraphale is one of the MC's from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchets book Good Omens. Hilarious book, more in Pterry's style than Gneil's, so it's reminiciant of the Discworld series. I'd recommend it to anyone, so if you ever get the chance to read it, try it out ^__^

It was "rumored" (and probably announced at the Closing Ceremony last year) that the con will be held at LB because some convention (probably the Christian Con, like HDS mentioned) reserved our weekend slot 2 years in advance! (Who the heck reserves a 2006 con in 2004?! Geez...) So AX-goers waited for the news and wah-la, in March, the website states "AX will be at ACC" so we rejoiced! (I wonder if AX bribed them or something.. well, I'll find out soon enough.)

I'm not sure about next year though... since LB cannot exceed 20,000. Last year we steeped to 30,000+ attendees. Will AX cut attendees or find a bigger place?

That's the extent of my abilities. I'll probably just wear my regular clothes... Yeah, I've heard from a lot of people(And seen in Genshiken :D) that an anime convention consists of LOTS of line waiting. I'll probably be so excited around everything, I'll just sit there the whole time gawking at everything that AX is. Watch for the girl that looks like she's about to faint because she looks like an exaggerated version of :eek:
That's probably me. Of course, it could be my mom too, she's never been to an anime convention. And my uncle was worried about me when I thought I might cosplay for the convention... Heh. *imagines what her uncle would say if he saw all the people that do cosplay from shows with questionable morals*
I'll still bring along a few manga books and my GBA system just in case I get tired from all the gawking though ^^;;

I'm fairly sure that we'll be going though. I've asked mom so many times if she was serious that she turned to me and said, "Maybe we won't go then." I quickly proceeded to shut up, though for a while now, I've felt like I've chugged a bottle of happy potion(AKA: Alcohol =P)

I've never stood in line for anything at AX besides the exhibit hall and registration line, so lines-wise it doesn't seem that bad to me. Reg a couple of years back was outrageously long, and I sat there playing my GBA and listening to music. Of course, I've never gone to the AMV competition or any concerts they've had, so maybe the lines for those kind of things are long. You can pretty much always find someone interesting to blather to while waiting, so boredom isn't much of a problem.

Mwahaa. It's official. I bought my ticket online, and mom bought her ticket, and my 2 brothers... We're still trying to find a relatively cheap hotel somewhere around Anaheim Convention Center for 3 nights though. It doesn't have to be within walking distance, my mom will end up driving us anyway. So... Anyone got any ideas? They'd be appreciated...

Everyone's been saying the line for pre-registered attendees is a whole bunch shorter than the at-con line, so I went ahead and pre-registered... Lines this year might be excessively longer this year(And maybe not.) because CLAMP and Seiji Mizushima are going. I'm still in disbelief... I'm still giddy about the whole thing. *dances*

...Hmmmm. If I were to actually win a lottery, and actually be a lucky person who gets to have their item signed by CLAMP, I'd get my booklet that came with "CLAMP no Kiseki" signed. It's so pretty... I would get more than just volume one, but I have no money. I have to save up for Anime Expo!! ...*just spent $30 on a whim yesterday at Borders on new manga*

Last year's unreg line was waaaaay shorter than the prereg.

I had a slightly embarassing experience there. Some prereg line-standing lady came up to us non-reggers, complaining about the line, I guess expecting to get some sympathy or something, when my younger sister blurted out "that's what you get for being stupid enough to prereg."

It was hilarious but embarassing at the same time, cause my damn sister never knows when to keep her mouth shut.
I usually prereg, but I take a look to see which line looks like it's going faster and hop in the one that is, preregged or not. :D

I'm probably going to be staying with a friend at a hotel in Whittier which is about 10 minutes away from Anaheim. $61 a night, not bad at all. The ones around the ACC are only about $140 a night, so if you room with a few people it'll come out really cheap for you all.

This'll be my first year going - I have an idea of what to expect. I've been to Comic-Con for three years (this being my third), and will be finally able to go to AX! Already pre-reg'd! Hey, my first post! It took a while to set up but I'm glad that I did. I was wondering what gear other amateur photographers are using so maybe we can swap ideas and such and I can learn how to take good cosplay photography, especially when it counts during the masqurade, which is always fun. Yes~ CLAMP will be there holding a three hour panel on July 1st. They will be doing two autograph sessions but there isn't news about the second one. The first one will be raffle-like (I think O.o) and during their panel the winners will have to come in on July 2nd to claim it. It will be a signature on a CLAMP pencil board. XD

Yes, I'm definately going to see the Fullmetal Alchemist The Movie premiere. I'm missing Saturday, so I miss the Romi Paku/Seiji Mizushima panel,(AND the CLAMP Panel ;_;...), and I thought I wouldn't get a chance to see them, but now, I can at least see them in person.
I'm glad that its in Anaheim for 2006, because this is my first time going, and if it were 2007 and in Long Beach, we might have gotten lost, and that would have been a really depressing start.

I'm really nervous about asking people for pictures too... Maybe I'll take more pictures of inanimate objects than real people cosplaying XD;;

Lucky... I have to work on Saturday, so I can't go until Sunday. We're getting there Saturday night though, and maybe it will be less crowded after CLAMP's panel is over, since that's what a lot of people are going for. Registration lines shouldn't be as long too... Hopefully.

Broccoli @ Anime Expo:
Today's been a big day for most things CLAMP oriented but the folks at Broccoli had their panel late this afternoon and managed to talk about a couple of new print items due out from them. Detailed reports to come later, but they've indicated that they have acquired the Galaxy Angel 2 manga, a Disgaea Game Character Collection Artbook and the Kon Kon Kokon manga.

Geneon@Anime Expo:
According to news right off of IRC by those in the panel room, Geneon Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Black Lagoon (12 episodes, 2007). Four more titles are to be announced but the panel has paused for the Q&A with Indigo. They've also announced that the first volume of the Hellsing Ultimate OVA series will release on 12/05/2006.

With the Indigo session out of the way, Geneon returned to talking about new titles. Announced for acquisition was Cool Dimension, a simultaneous release in Japan and the US in October, Disgaea (12 episodes), Hello Kitty Stump Village and Paradise Kiss (12 episodes).

FUNimation@Anime Expo:
FUNimation's panel at Anime Expo has two licenses ready for announcement. They've announced Solty Rei (24 episodes) and Glass Fleet (24 episodes).

We just got in a call from the panel and ADV Films has announced the 12 episode series called Nerima Daikon Brothers. This is the series by Shinichi Watanabe of Excel Saga fame and Nabeshin apparently does appear in this show as well.

Sunday, 10:00pm: My friend Cory tells me that he really wants me to go, because he doesn't want to hang out with his brother and his friends, and asked if there was any way that I coulds go. I desided to give it one last shot, and asked my parents if I could get a 1 day pass for monday. IT WORKED!!!!!:D My dad registered me at about 10:30pm on sunday night.
The next day, I get to my friends house, and his mom drove us there.
Getting through the will call line was a breeze, and I had no wait.
After that, we waited for the Exhibit Hall. We got ma rather good place in line, just around the first fold. We waited about an hour, then we got in. We got a bunch of freebees, looked at stuff, then went off to do other stuff.
The best thing I saw there was the Copic How to: Drawing/Design w/Markers. It was very fun. We got to use the markers, and the lady running it was SO MUCH FUN! I was cracking up half the time. If any of you saw her on Monday, I was the kid in the front, second from the right, with big poofy blond curly hair.;)
Lucky for me, she will be at Comic-Con in a few weeks too, and I have a 4 day pass for that, so I'll be seeing her again.:D

I love Anime Expo! This year was my third year, and it was a cosplay-fest for me. I dressed as Zelda from Twilight Princess, Haydee from Gankutsuou, Belldandy from A!MG, and a few other costumes. I didn't get to go to as many panels as I would have liked (I missed the TokyoPop panel ;_; ), but I live in San Diego so you can be sure I'll catch up on all I missed at SDCC. I did, however, purchase Manga Studio while at AX! I got the Debut, but I think I'm going to upgrade it at ComicCon. I just love it!

XD Anime Expo was awesome!! That was a good one to make my first convention... Yay!

I'm going to reserve tickets for next year soon, in case they have a cap. People are suggesting a cap because of the sheer amount of people expected to turn out, and also the size of the Long Beach convention center compared to the Anaheim one.

^_^ I can't wait until next year... XD I don't know how I'm going to wait... I'm already anxious XD;; *Impaitient*

And next year I'll actually have my screename as my nickname on my badge. I didn't want to this year, but I will next year!!

I'm very excited that it's in Long Beach next year. I live about 10 minutes away from the Convention Center so it's practically in my backyard ^_^ (I like to tell myself that). I was planning on cosplaying as Dogby from Dogby Walks Alone but I have no idea where to begin in making the costume.

One is coming around July of 2007. It's going to be held at the Long Beach Convention center. That's all we know for now. More details will come soon.

There seems to be a few conventions in Georgia next year, so maybe you could check those out.

Shamless plug: There's also the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (http://www.mtac.net) (MTAC) next April from the 13-15. There's often ads for nearby cons (like in GA) there, and vice-versa, so you could always consider showing up there next year if you like! :D

Nothing's wrong with cosplaying a character from Naruto. My flatmate's cosplayed as Shikamaru, young Jiraiya, and Dan. Also, a good friend of mine is working through all the different versions of Tsunade. ^.^

As for AX07... Make sure you go to the Naruto gathering! I wouldn't be surprised if someone has started a thread about it over at cosplay.com. I know they've already started trying to figure out gathering times for Fanime.

I had a total blast last year, even though I just went with my mom(She wasn't really interested, but I think she got into Prince of Tennis because of it XD;; ), and my 2 brothers(Who are somewhat into it).

They'll acknowledge that I love anime and manga, and they won't openly say how little they care for it, but they would never go to a convention or ever get into it themselves.

It really is an eye opener to go to Anime Expo and see how much people actually care for anime and manga when you're always hanging around people that don't care for it. Last year's AX was my first con ever, and all I could do was "O.O;;;;" at the sheer amount of cosplayers, merchandise, and stuff. I got an autograph from Koge-Donbo and I was really hyper and shaky for the rest of the day... It's great feeling like that XD;;

I bought my tickets before the price went up. I'm really hyped for AX 2007.

I have gone to 13+ cons I go alot as you can see because I only 14. But I am pretty Experienced at making costumes. I always make the costumes for my cosplay group and this year were are going as Organiztion 13 from kingdom hearts and they have making and selling costumes with scraps and they are actually doing hard work because we are broke and we need like 50 dollars each. lol.
