Who else loves J-Horror?
Some of my favs are
Kairo (one of my favorite movies period)
Uzumaki
Battle Royale
Ju-On
Tetsuo (if you want to call it horror)
and of course Ring which is erroneously called Ringu here in the states.
I really want to see Audition, Dark Water, and a lot of others.
What're some of you guys favs?
I'm really curious about Suicide Club. Anyone's watched it before?

I've seen Suicide Club. Very trippy movie, that... I did love the opening though, with that gaggle of "ordinary" teenage schoolgirls. ^^

I love Suicide Club, but I don't really see it as horror...
It's just too funny

Has anyone watched Chakushinari(One Missed Call)? It seems like Japan has an obsession with making horror flicks out of ordinary objects.

Hmmm Battle Royale was the first proper Jap/Asian Horror Film I watched - not really horror in the conventional sense though;
the ring trilogy
audition
dark water
the vengeance trilogy (sympathy for mr/lady vengeance and oldboy)
phone
cursed etc.
The first Ring film was probably the scariest on first viewing - sort of defeats the point of things if u have it on dvd though :D

NOOOO! NOT VERSUS! Ok, erm. That might have seemed extreme but i HATE it. I think it's WAY overrated. It's funny to watch but ergh, it's just soooo stupid, watch Azumi, love it to bits!

I really enjoyed that movie, though I don't think its as good as Battle Royale. It's pritty funny and has some really cool fights, I really love martial arts so thats why i probably like it so much

I also enjoyed Ju-on and Infection.

I've seen a few... Namely the Ringu series (Ringu, Ringu 2, Ringu 0...), Premonition, Infection, Ju-On, Dark Water, and so on. I've also seen Suicide Club and Battle Royale, but I didn't really consider those J-horror movies.

Anyone who hasn't seen Kairo (Pulse) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286751/) should see it ASAP. It's awesome.
I'm sure most know that the American remake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454919/) is coming out soon. I don't think it's going to be very good. What do you guys think?

Suicide Club's kind of... different. It has several 'funny' parts that aren't meant to be that funny. They just are.
But still, I liked parts of it. Rolly! ^__^

A good one is "Premonition". You've might have heard of this because it's been licensed for a little while now. It's definately a very creepy movie, but doesn't overuse blood and gore. It's also very psychological, and you don't 100% understand whats going on until the end, which is a very unpredictable finish to the movie. The ending really makes you think and when you finally figure it out you're like "ooh, I get it, thats so cool". Well just try watching it yourself and you'll see.
The most recent one I've seen is called "Kairo". It's not the best, but it did make me jump at parts. There wasn't anything spectacular about this, and after you're done watching it you're kind of disappointed.
QUESTION: For those of you who have seen this, was there supposed to be some moral or something to Kairo? Maybe I need to rewatch it (being the airhead I am I probably missed the whole point of this movie x3) but the end seemed kind of sudden to me.
I've heard "Kakashi" is another good one. I've been wanting to see that for a long while. The story seems so different than most others and it's drawn me to it since I read the summary almost two years ago. But I can't find a download for it anywhere. >_<
And currently I'm downloading "Dark Water".

Premonition is really underrated. The ending, like you said, was incredible. It made me cry. ;_;
The only thing I didn't really get was the person in the... cabin, if I remember correctly? And I thought the whole husband-wife unite thingy was a bit too much like Ringu.

It is! T_T I wish more people would give me this movie some credit. I don't think many movies cover the topic of fate in the way it did (never actually seen any), and it's a well-done horror movie at the same time. ^^
The person in the cabin? :x You mean the jail cell thing? The pale guy with the tongue? *confused* I can't remember right tho, because of my retarded memory can't remember stuff.
And by the way. Do you know what the ending song is called? I really want an mp3 of that song.

It's an allegory for modern Japanese culture. It's a difficult but awesome movie. There is a lot symbolism that pertains directly to Japan so it can be very difficult for us westerners to get it. And a lot of times Kiyoshi Kurosawa likes to show characters who don't necessarily follow a linear path. There's a lot more to Kairo than scares.
