Ok according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kindaichi_Case_Files thier are a lot more Kindachi Case files manga's to be published, but it also stated that it's upto Tokyopop if they will publish it in English etc ...

Anyone know if they well ?

Vol. 13, House of Wax, will come out in May. At the current time, the successive volumes are scheduled for every 6 months. Unless the series starts selling a lot better, it will not come any faster. So if you want it to go faster, get 4,000 of your close friends to buy it.

Because our volumes are broken up by case instead of a simple ~10 chapters per volume like the original Japanese books, there will probably be 20 volumes total (since there are 19 cases and Kindaichi the Killer was split into two books), meaning they will be coming out for several years to come. There is no way we will license the Kindaichi series after this first one unless they suddenly start selling like hotcakes.

Don't worry. Since 13 books are already out, it will only take 7 more years to complete! :D

The 13th volume comes out in May...it's already been printed, so as far as we're concerned in Editorial, it's already out. :)

As for why it's not on the website, you may guess by the sudden existence of this message board that the people in charge of our website have recently changed, and there are some details that have gotten temporarily sidelined in the shuffle.

Not to mention the fact that the American release and the Japanese release are different. If I'm not mistaken we've published up until around the 17th vol. of the Japanese release already because of our volume breaks.

Lol temporarily you say ? Iv checked out this website for like 6 months and I'ts been the same ... but It's cool.

The point im trying to make is that Im sure if you inform tokyopop to maybe speed up thier printing people will buy it ... even I will lose interest if i have to wait 7 odd years, I mean that's just not right ...

think outside money for once, u's will be the only guys who publishes such an excellent manga and a complete series of it ...

I have read many, many manga and watched quite a few ... Nothing beats this in Manga's and Rurouni Kenshin in anime ...

please, you have to publish more, atleast try 6 a year.

A book to be transalated takes around 1 month to complete ... so 2 months should be more than enough time even with milk and donuts and breaks every few mintues to complete the job ...

I personally have the whole collection in mint condition, please, don't dissapoint me ...

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The current popularity of this series doesn't warrant a faster schedule.

Er... even our FASTEST series don't get 6 releases a year at this point.
Translation isn't even the largest part of production of any given book, there are so many OTHER processes that go into it, so 2 months for anything is always kind of a stretch.

Yes, yes I do. Being a manga fan myself I have every idea as far as having to wait 6 months or a YEAR for my favorite series to have a new issue available in Japan. This is quite common and many people experience these feelings. It is not exclusive to you.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can order issues of this on our site, though.

Yes, we are based in Los Angeles, CA.

please guyz it would mean so much if you could do something ...

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but like Peter said, the only thing that could be done would be if you got 4-5000 or more friends to go out and order the book. There really is little we can do at it's current state of popularity.

lol i see ... i guess I have no option but to wait, even though it is quite unfortunate for me ... wat I mean by my private order was liek to make the complete set for me from Volumes 13-37 and I would buy it asap from u's ... lol unfortunately my far fetched idea seems implausable ...

Thankx for your help mods+admins+editors. Appreciate your help ^.-

Jesus, if you want it so badly, you can go and learn Japanese in the next 7 years and read the originals. That'd be way more productive than sitting here, bitching to TP about their slow release schedule.

Patience- the editors only come to the message boards in their free time.
& you may want to check Tokyopop's New Releases (http://tokyopop.com/news/newreleases.php) section on their website before asking something like this. It lists May 9th.
The same information is available on TP's Kindaichi page (http://tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?page=product&productid=3050).

I'm a girl, but you're welcome.

Payment methods Amazon accepts (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/513058/103-3686064-0777466). I'm assuming that if you have a bankcard that works with paypal, you can just use that. I'm really not sure, though, sorry. It'll probably eventually appear on ebay, but as that's a second-hand auction site, I can't really say for sure.

05-02-2006, 01:02 PM
lol it aint a second hand auction site ^.^

They probobly sell like 85% new items and only 15% used items ^.-

Tons of sellers sell all the other Kindiachi Case Files manga all Brand New with liek $10 us shipping per book (To Australia ^.- )

I purchased the whole lot from this US seller for around $100au dollars (BRAND NEW) + $30 US Shipping ...

Arrived in perfect condition ^.- I could most certianly buy it from here too but can't be bothered chasing it up and finding which store has it ... if thier was a tokyopop here that would be cool ^.-

The whole collection right up till now, I think it's around 11 ? 12 ? books ?

Hey ur a gurl ryt ? u read these manga's ? aren't they just absolutely fantastic !!! hey how old r you ? got msn ? lol don't worry i aint hitting on u ^.-

But thankx so much for your help missy !!!

I, for one, think Kindaichi is great, but I understand why it's a hard sell. Anyone disappointed in Detective Conan's immaturity should hop on the Kindaichi wagon.

It's got better mysteries then most novels I read... I'd almost think it would sell better to mystery-philes instead of manga/anime fans.

Because our volumes are broken up by case instead of a simple ~10 chapters per volume like the original Japanese books, there will be 27 volumes total, meaning they will be coming out for many years to come. There is no way we will license the Kindaichi series after this first one unless they suddenly start selling like hotcakes.

I'm confused. There are 3 series of Kindaichi in Japan. The first series had 27 volumes. The second had 10. The third, 5. the first series had a total of 19 cases, meaning the English release would be 20 total (because one case was split into 2 books).

You say that you haven't licensed the remaining Kindaichi series, but that it will run for 27 volumes- the second Kindaichi series [Kindaichi shounen no Jikenbo CASE] had 7 cases split into 10 volumes- Does Tokyopop have the license for the second series as well then?

PeterAhlstrom
06-19-2006, 10:46 AM
Sorry! You are correct. There appears to be some confusion in our databse--yes, we have only licensed the first series, which only has 19 cases, so in all probability, our release will be only 20 volumes long (since Kindaichi the Killer was split into two books).

Excuse me, I know this thread is a few months old but I just need clarifacation. Is it safe to assume that sense you have unactivated links about books 21-27 on the KCF page, and that if you type the urls that those links would link to in manually you can see prospected release dates for books 21-27 (the last being released in 2013) that you have liscensed past book 19 (or your Vol.20) now?

PeterAhlstrom
12-04-2006, 05:15 PM
Our vol. 20 ends with the last chapter of Kindaichi (Japanese series 1 release) volume 27. In the Kindaichi (Japanese) series, there are 19 cases spread across 27 volumes. We released them as one case per volume, with one case in two volumes, so the total volume count will be 20. The database listings for volumes 21 through 27 are a mistake.

I recently became a fan of the Kindaichi Case Files, so I hope that sales pick up and the next series ends up being licensed. 6 months between volumes is a while to wait, but not as bad as Rebound and a few other titles. I like the fact that each volume has a single case in it. I enjoyed Remote quite a bit, but didn't like how it would have several chapters of the next story and then you had to wait until the next volume to finish it.

Personally, I hope that this series will be finished. I really enjoy reading it. I don't buy it, but I know my library does, which is where I borrow it from. So I hope that all of it is released/translated. It's a very awesome series.

I'm actually wondering why anyone has not done translations to these series like what they do to Naruto and Bleach and other series on Onemanga or Mangashare. Kindaichi Case Files are one of the best mangas, I've started reading it about 10 years ago when I was like 11 in Taiwan. I remembered the original manga series came out pretty quick with 1-2 months apart. I've only started to pick up reading it again recently and noticed that if you can read Chinese, they have all the series on websites, which is pretty cool. I just don't understand why nobody volunteers to translate the series in English and do scanlations and load it on to Mangashare or Onemanga. That will most likely create better exposure for these great series and more people will likely to read or buy them. I think a lot of people from the West, do not even know about Kindaichi Case Files, which is a shame because it's such a good series. And I think there's no way that people will ever read/discover Kindaichi Case Files if the english publications are so slow, and most people who have discovered and do read it will most likely lose interest in waiting for English publications in years to come.

Anyways, if anyone wants to translate the series and do scanlations, let me know, I may be able to help.

01-07-2009, 02:31 PM
So what you're saying is if the series is available for free (via scanlations), more people will be likely to buy it? yeaaahh riiiiight. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to discuss scanlations here, and especially discuss setting up a scanlation for a series TP publishes.
