Adult Swim has aquired... Bleach!

That's right!

Oh I'm Glad it's going to AS and not Toonami, doesn't this mean they'll not edits for blood and only minimal swearword removals? Which may be a completely unedited release will all we'll get on DVD unlike having to wait for an unedited version like with Naruto.

Wow. I guess this pushes back the uneditted, subtitled dvd release to.... never.

Seriously, I'll finish "I'm gonna be an Angel!" before Naruto comes out.

Why would you think that? This is AS it's going to not Toonami, chances are that Viz won't even bother with an edited release as they'll be so little difference bewteen an edited and unedited release - just a couple of swear edits if anything.

Oh and the first unedited Naruto is set to come out in July I do believe (well according to what some people on the ANN forums said). That's not that far away.

The first editted Naruto came out in November. The first noneditted in July. A six month gap. They announced the liscense around Christmas of 2004. It HAS been a long wait. Just because it is relatively soon doesn't negate that they've sat on it for a year and a half. I don't have a problem with Viz overall, but when they run their shows on AS/Toonami, they tend to slow down their release schedule for reasons unknown to me. You'd think they'd speed it up since the airing of the show is probably the best advertising they could possibly do. Also, Naruto was on AS, they still released an editted dub only version first....

I was wrong about Naruto. I could have sworn it was on in the AS block. (It was like 11pm local time here, so I assumed....)

GracieLizzy
03-31-2006, 05:54 AM
Um I'm pretty sure Naruto is on Toonami not AS. It shows up on the Toonami (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/toonami/index.html) site not the Adult Swim (http://www.adultswim.com/) one.

Taking into account the other Viz show on Adult Swim, Inu Yasha, only has an uncut release (I think) I'm hoping this will be the same for Bleach.

The only thing I am worried about now is the voices, I hope they don't use Ocean Group as I find their va's annoying at times.

(Yeah, I was wrong about Naruto. It must have been because I live in an odd part of the country here that it seemed to be shown in Adult Swim hours.)

The problem is that Inu Yasha really had nothing that needed to be editted away. I'm not sure why they put it on AS, since it is a rather kiddy show compared to pretty much everything else Rumiko-sensei has done.

Who will they get to play the 'Spirits are always with you!!' guy?

No idea, I haven't watched a Viz dub in years. I think the last one I watched was Ranma 1/2. :P On VHS. Cause it was cheaper. :P

GracieLizzy
03-31-2006, 06:17 AM
Ah, I see. I'm not used to living in a country which has more than one timezone... the UK being so small in comparison it makes watching TV less confusing I suppose :). Anyway I could be wrong and they could bring out an edited release but I'd be surprised if as much to warrant an edited release was cut out, if what I know about Adult Swim from the internet is true then I'm pretty sure Bleach will be okay in that timeslot.

You're right about them taking ages to release unedited Naruto but I was just trying to cheer you up, there is light at the end of the Naruto tunnel even if Viz is a slow DVD releaser they're far better than 4Kids.

-dies-
I really don't want to watch it though. What will the voices sound like? HORRENDOUS! I can't even imagine Ichigo's voice.. O_o

But I love Bleach and will continue to watch it in Japanese anyway. :D
I was happy at this news.. but then I realized they would dub the voices.. thus.. creating a bunch of angry fans..
I hope not though. But I really do think that all the character's voices are one-of-a-kind.

Ok maybe I over-exaggerated about the shocking part but some people don't even know about this. Hell some people don't even know what Bleach is about!

For people who don't appreciate this and say stuff like, "Gah you're so slow! I knew this ages ago! I mean, it's so obvious." I only post this stuff up because OTHER people don't know whats going on.

I mean I post here to share the knowledge about Anime. :D

Anyways, my thoughts; Ok so some of my friends are really recommending this and saying that I should not wait and just buy the imported anime already. Being someone whose low on cash, I just told them I'll check it out on Adult Swim this fall.

I didn't really pay attention to the mangas but should. If the anime (dubbed)sucks then I'll just rely on the manga instead. I mean it's like Naruto. Some people hate the dub, but me not even having seen the series in japanese can't really tell what the difference is between the good and bad parts of this anime. Then some other people (in this thread) said that I should just check out the manga instead of the anime. Meh.

Hm. Don't really know where I was going with that buuuut, I'm just going to say that I will check it out. Hopefully the dub won't suck >.<

Miako

Although.. how are they going to translate Ichigo's name?
It's pretty major to the plot. Okay, maybe not that major, but a couple of episodes rely on his name, meaning "one to protect".
I hope they don't give totally new names. If they did...

Actually... Neither has anything to do with the Voice Actors? It's just the network that plays the show. They don't pick anything about it.
Plus... Naruto is done aiming at a younger audience than what Bleach will be. Hence why it airs on Toonami and not Adult Swim.

Anyways, I just thought I'd point out that it's not CN's fault that the voice actors are not suited to that cast. They just play the show, don't kill the messenger. You might wanna kick CN for the edits tho. :)

I REALLY wish they'd hurry up and announce the VAs for Bleach... or at least which studio VIZ will get to do it.

No new season. I think the director of FMA (Seiji Mizushima) isn't really planning on making another series.

The only thing you can expect soon is the movie which will be released on October 3rd. Adult Swim will be picking that up as well soon.

Um. As for Bleach. No new news. I'll get some more though.

Next Ichigo's name does mean Strawberry i doubt they'll call him that though except maybe a few times in the beginning eps of the series cuz they did call "Stawberry" a few times at the beginning of the series cuz its his nickname. and Yeah Viz needs to hurry and announce VA's

oh..so bleach is finally on adult swim o.o took them longer than I thought, but not as long as Naruto xD when Naruto got (unfortunately) licensed I was like "oh, it's finally licensed o.o *continues to download the anime anyway*" Then I saw that 4kids had gotten it an all I could think of was "Poor poor anime...another one to be fed to the dogs of the cutting room _._"

I'm glad Bleach was NOT licensed by 4Kids, though I can't see why they'd want it. Bleach was already styled for teens and up. Now my boyfriend will finally watch it DUBBED (I don't know WHY he prefers dub, Japanese VAs are so much better in my opinion). I've kinna started losing interest in Bleach, but it's still a great anime and deserves a good company to be dubbed over :O

Haha, such a big deal is made about the dubbing crossovers that we fail to realize that were just being biased against what we are already used to. You think the Japanese complain about how bad their dubbing is when it is their own language? Could be. But thats because they may be suffering from the same kinda bias. I kinda opened my mind to that in a sense since it's almost discriminitory because there will always be something lost in translation. So don't look at it as butchered if the story is still in tact, as oppsed to 4kids One Piece. Now that was butchered.

As for fan dubs, don't knock em because of what they are; it's even better when they are unlicensed because they don't have anything to be compared to! If a fandub was made to something that was already domestic, then the same people that say that the english Naruto is a disgrace will say that the domestic fandub was terrible in comparison to the professional voices. By no means am I saying to cut them slack if they suck, but cut them some slack because not everyone has the same opprotunities to see both the orginal and the dubbed. Believe it or not, there are people in the UNITED STATES that never knew of Naruto until it hit Cartoon Network, much like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh. But because we're so in the know, we forget that we are a very specialised group of individuals (err... Otaku.) and there is more people that enjoy anime, just in different ways. Kudos to the fandubbers and the fansubbers, they are the ones who create the bridge to anime for people who can't do what they do! And hell, even give 4kids some credit for bringing Naruto to the states. Now EVERYONE knows of Naruto. (Please don't butcher it 4kids!)

I think on the otaku point, we're just a bunch of crazy people who know it but won't admit it. End story. I'm glad that Adult Swim got Bleach, that should hopefully give YTV(yes, I live in Canada, no, Disney is wrong, people don't wear lumberjack outfits out in public) a chance to show it. They did show Inuyasha, Naruto, Case Closed and FMA, even though Inuyasha's been going on for at least four years now and they went back thirteen episodes in Naruto and they showed Gundam Seed at least twice, Ghost in the Shell at midnight on Wednesdays or something, .hack//SIGN twice(once is already enough, thank you very much) and so on and so forth. But yes, there is a probability of them showing Bleach. It WAS on the list of potential animes that YTV might show that me and a friend drew up.

This doesnt really have to do with Bleach being on Adult Swim but Viz has announced their dvd schedule for Bleach so i thought i'd tell you guys in case you hadn't heard. Bleach will see its first DVD volume released in November this year, with no edits and the subtitled and dubbed versions, for $24.98. The series will be released on a bimonthly schedule with four episodes per disc. A preview DVD will be included with subscriber copies of Shonen Jump prior to the release. Also this means if you shop smart you can buy these dvd 5 to 10 bucks cheaper. $15 bucks for 4 episodes is pretty good in my opinion. I just hope they release a collectors box with the first dvd.

BLEACH = Great series, sadly has been captured in "filler" land, recently. It might have a means of escape back to "actual plot" land.

Awesome news!!! Glad to hear that it's finally coming! And on September 9th!? Not too far away! ^_^
yay! Bleach comes right after my prolonged torture begins! A new anime is just the thing to distract one at the beginning of a new school year. yay for distractions!

heh, I was wondering when AS would show the 3rd InuYasha movie. My friends have only seen the first half because I always have to leave, therefore so does the DVD. :(
