Why did the Anime GetBackers get cancled after it's first season?

i loved this series and would like to see it finished.

Because when they made the anime it caught up to the end of the Venus de Milo arc and they thought the Card arc was dumb, and the manga was still in the middle of the next arc, the really long Voodoo Child arc. If they kept doing what was in the manga they would have run out of material in just a few weeks, and they decided the anime wasn't quite popular enough to instead survive a zillion filler episodes in a row, so they decided to make an end for the anime.

Note: this is just a guess.
