I kind of stumbled upon her when I was looking for some J-Rock music someone had recommended. She isn't J-Rock she's more hip hop/R&B/pop-ish. From what I've heard of her she sounds pretty good. Anyone else know her? What do you think of her?

I like her. One of her songs, Motherland, is one of the endings to Full Metal Alchemist. I first saw her on Pop Japan TV.

If she had unique music to go with her unique looks, I might be more into it. However, so far it seems that her music is just regular pop in the vein of Utada Hikaru; which means she does not appeal to me. She seems to be doing pretty well popularity-wise, so maybe her agency can hire better songwriters and composers or something in the future.

It sounded pretty unique or at least different but maybe it's because I don't know a lot of Japanese music.

I haven't watched Full Metal Alchemist yet but I want to.:) I've heard of it just haven't gotten around to seeing it.:o

*Reviving a dead thread* >.<
I absolutely love Crystal Kay. She is compared to Utada Hikaru a bit because of similar background. The reason why her English is pretty good is because she's Half Korean and Half Black. But, she can't speak Korean very well.
I pretty much love Kirakuni, Bye Bye Darling, Hard to say, Happy Life, and Motherland.

I haven't looked up any of her lyrics yet, but I don't think she can be compared to Hikaru Utada at all! CK is R&B and Hip Hop and Utada has a more Poppy/Techno feel. The only two songs she made that were remotely R&B were Addicted to You and Automatic. Which were horrible songs, because her voice isn't really cut out for R&B.
CK and Utada are nothing alike in my opinion. Can you imagine Hikki dancing around to "Candy?" xD
I'm surprised someone finally made a thread about CK though. I love most of her songs.

Very well said *applauds*:)
Kuri cannot be compared to Utada at all. Their styles are totally different from each other. On top that, Utada can't dance. (Shall we remember the PV for "Automatic" )

Lol. I'll have to check that out. Even though I may like certain stars I try really hard not to be completely biast and illogical. I have no problem pointing out Utada's flaws as an artist. No artist is perfect.
Anyway, comparing Crystal Kay to Hikaru Utada is like comparing Beyonce to Cascada (the girl who sang "Everytime We Touch").

Most compare her, from what I seen, that they both came from similar backgrounds and a few other things.
Trust me, I can dance better that Utada. And that's sad
Speaking of artists who can't dance, who say BoA can dance? XD
Anyone hear 'My Everything' English version? I found it, it sounds like an old school RnB tracck. She sounded so pretty in that song *sighs*

Why do people compare their backgrounds? CK is black and korean...Hikki's Japanese. I know Hikki grew up in NY, but did Crystal Kay? It doesn't seem like they're backgrounds are all that similar...
And who sang "My Everything?" BoA?

Kuri grew up in Japan. If you've ever watched one of her english interviews you can tell that she wasn't born here, because she speaks funny. But if it weren't for International Schooling, she prolly wouldn't have learned english at all
