The first manga titles produced by the partnership will be based on Meg Cabot’s bestselling young adult novels. TOKYOPOP writers and artists, working closely with Cabot and her HarperCollins editor, will convert her multimillion copy selling books into manga format.

 dies from bliss overdose. I love the Princess Diaries and I really like All American Girl (though I'm not all that fond of Nicola and the Vicount) and while sometimes Meg's plots can seem... kinda samey, well at least some do, they are really fun reads and I always wanted to see her characters in manga style!

In addition, HarperCollins will sell and distribute the entire TOKYOPOP line in North America.

So this won't have any effect on the UK? I was kind of hoping it might mean an increase in titles released over here but if not that's still okay. One thing though will the "MegManga" still be available even though Macmillan, not HarperCollins publish her books over here? The Princess Diaries UK books also have diffrent titles and minor diffrences as well due too having diffrent editors apparently.

Ha! o.o Okay, now my listing Meg Cabot as a "similar to my pitch" thingie is going to sound less like research into the age-group I'm writing for and more like, "Oh, yeah, like that!" Oh well. XD

Looking forward to them, though. :3

I wonder if they're going to be working with Japanese artists (like they did for Princess Ai and Juror 13) or if they're going to get some OEL artists to work on them.

I hope they do The Mediator series. That really is the only series that I like of Meg Cabot (All American Girl wasn't bad; I didn't read the second one, didn't want to). My little sister maybe interested in this information; she's a huge fan of Meg Cabot.

I just hope that they get a good artist.

I can't believe this only got three replies.
To me, this sounds like a lot more muscle behind the new novel line. Anything that makes the Kino novels successful and means I get to translate all of them makes me happy.

ooh are you serious?
That's awesome XD
I can't wait to see how it looks like.. and who's gonna draw it !
That's pretty awesome though.
Two powerful industries creating a manhwa from a book.
^__^

First manhwas to animes, then to dramas, then books to dramas/movies ect... now books to manhwas?! :D

I loved the Mediator series X3 It'd be awesome if they did that. I also loved All American Girl, but not so much the sequel, Ready or Not... Sam got too paranoid about intercourse. >_<

The Princess Diaries are ok, but it really feels like the same plot every other book. :p But sometimes, that's what makes some books so appealing. Just knowing it's all gonna be alright by the end. :)

Oh and Teen Idol. I swear that book was written about me. Just minus the movie star :D

Whatever they use (very good chance PDiaries will be in there) I'm looking forward to it!!

Personally, I have really mixed feelings about this deal, mostly because of the owner of HaperCollins, who is rather a skeezbag.

But at least they didn't merge, so I guess I should be grateful.

If they merged.. man everything would be in an uproar.
Especially on the fans of Tokyopop's part.
