So, I'll be the first one to say what everyone else is thinking. Yeah, I don't have any fashion sense whatsoever. I'll admit it. :P I usually have work every day, so I just toss on my taco bell shirt and hat, (thus discouraging combing my hair in any manner), and having slept in my pants, I'm ready to go. (Of course I brush my teeth and put on deodorant. I'm not that socially backward. :P)
Anyone else out there just not really care about fashion as long as whatever you're wearing doesn't look completely repulsive?

Well, it's one thing to cosplay, but I think that today's trends of over-accessorizing is leading our youth into attempting to live a decadent lifestyle which their wallets could never afford in reality. I'm not saying that you're a prime example of this, since I don't know you, just that sometimes, (nay, a lot of the time,) fashion idealisms go overboard and we have people that spend more money on making themselves look 'original' than on rent. That's when we have a problem in society.

I don't eat Taco Bell, but basic hygine would rule that the pants you sleep in are not the ones you wear to work.
That's so gross, I don't know what to do with it.

I have a very efficient little style of my own [even though I am sure that there is at least a few more individuals roaming this earth that do the same as me]. I go to my dresser, open a drawer, put on the first thing I see, and head out into the real world. It works quite fine for me, seeing as how I own very minimal clothing [except socks, I have so many socks I don't know what to do with them].
But I do agree with you on the cost of all of it. If I were to dress like that, well, I would dress like someone straight out of a Final Fantasy game. And anyone who's played Final Fantasy knowns that there is very little chance you could find their outfits, you would have to buy the materials and make the whole thing... and often it includes a sword or something of the sort.. The sword just makes it cost a little bit too much, plus all the effort to go through. That's why it's best to stick to using your imagination and pretending your cool.

I like it when I see people dress in style. People always say "don't judge people by what they wear" or " don't judge the book by it's cover" (same crap) But is that what people really do? I know that I would never read a book that has a bad cover, or talk to someone that is in a ugly outfit. When people dress in style, it usually means that they have confidence in them self. Or they care about what they look like. I care a lot about what I look like. No one will be able to survive in my school if they look good. (or if they are not into sports)

I don't cook the food, I take the filthy money. And I'll have you know I wash my pants at least once a month! (Frequent enough to not get scabies, thank you very much.)
Besides, I owe it to them to show up smelling like death. It brings season to the otherwise tasteless tripe we shovel out.

When people dress in 'style' it usually means that they have no self-esteem and feel they have no choice but to do what everybody else is doing just to fit in. Such fragile egos often lead to other problematic things such as anorexia, cutting, and the occasional attempts at suicide. Living a pointless life just isn't as fulfilling as it used to be for the youth today, is it?

...kashira? Totally out of place.
Dressing in style and looking respectable are two different things. Your life is not worthless, even though you work at Taco Bell. Please take care of yourself.

Of course my life isn't worthless. In fact, it's worth a whopping $7.65 an hour. (That's two cents more than the minimum wage, and than all my coworkers make folks. I totally rule.)

^^; I think I may be one of very few GIRLS who do this...but...I own eight pairs of pants, all of them cargo so I have a place for my junk (who needs a purse?!) and my wallet. I collect the 5 dollar t-shirts that Wal*Mart sells and I get the 99 cent t-shirts and 1.99 sweatshirts that GoodWill sells second hand. Then, I wear the same pair of cargo pants for three days, choose a random shirt and run out the door.
I sleep in a tank then wear it under my t-shirt. I wear the same pair of shoes for six months then buy another pair (usually because the heel's collapsed XD) for 15-20 bucks. I agree with the sox person. I own too many socks and underwear and tanks and bras. ^^;; Can't help it. But accessories? WHO needs 'em? All I need is my dog tags and the soul jewel Michael gave me before he died.
I guess you could call that a style, considering I wear practically the same thing every day. Most people at work recognize me a mile off--cargo pants and short dark red hair. XD

are you male or female?
because if you're male, the development of style is a pretty easy fix, and can usually be done with a short, easy checklist.
but if you're female, good luck--YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN.

I don't care too much about style as long as I'm comfortable. I prefer jeans and PAJAMAS! HEH

I am male. I kinda thought my username was a bit more masculine, considering that a blade is traditionally considered a phallic object, but it is the internets after all.

meh. i don't think it's a big deal that you wear the pants you sleep in to work. even if you were cooking, you're not cooking with your pants...i hope...lol.

I love fashion. While I can understand people scoffing on trends it boggles my mind when people say they don't care what they wear. Clothes are basically like your second skin.
Well, it's one thing to cosplay, but I think that today's trends of over-accessorizing is leading our youth into attempting to live a decadent lifestyle which their wallets could never afford in reality.
The fashion industry isn't exactly special in that. Everyone seems to want the hot car, great house, plasma TV......
When people dress in 'style' it usually means that they have no self-esteem and feel they have no choice but to do what everybody else is doing just to fit in. Such fragile egos often lead to other problematic things such as anorexia, cutting, and the occasional attempts at suicide.
For the record I hate people who wear Prada only because its Prada and not because they actually like it. It's true the fashion industry can and does promote bad examples, but I can't logically blame them completely for all the demons people have.
Grillychic brings up a really good point. People judge other people. As absurd as it is no matter what you do and where you go in life everyone is drawing conclusions about you. Of course you don't have to be a cookie cutter image of every celebrity around. However, you do have to conform to whatever standards are being placed on you (or find somewhere else). Fashion is about presence. It allows you to have expression along with conformity. :p
Another thing is that the words style and trend get used interchangeably. But, I don't think having style and following a trend necessarily match up. Style to me is a personal image that a person can feel comfortable and happy about while being practical for them.

I don't know. I don't have much fashion sense as in I don't pick out clothes appropriate to my age... Most of my clothes make me look like I'm 10.. It's partially because I can't fit into clothes that are geared more towards my age (because I'm really small and usually fit into kid-sized clothing. -_-;;;) and the fact I usually wear things to make myself comfortable.
Hmm. I think it'd be a bit more hygenic to wash clothes more than once a month...but whatever you like. I wear my school clothes to bed because I'm dead exhausted when I get up and it's usually freezing to change, plus it gives me an extra five minutes to sleep xD but my clothes are washed everyday. I don't wear the same thing everyday.

i can normally be seen in my school uniform or if i dont have to wear it im usually in some camoflauge pants and a navy blue tee, or jeans and a white tee. if its cold enough i will wear a sideout hooded sweatshirt. btw- i am a male, so no one can say i appear androgenous. i never wear tight clothes, i do wear baggy pants, i dont sag though. i think it looks stupid. i realy dont thik its good for guys to be showing off underwear by saggng. i am glad someone made a thread for people like me. so bladeofdekasis, thanks.
