I know there is already a ddr thread but ddr sucks anyway.

Bemani Games that rule:
Beatmania
Beatmania IIDX
Pop'n Music(personal favorite)
Keyboard Mania
Guitar Freaks
Dance Maniax
Para Para Paradise
Drum mania
Band of Brothers

Non Bemani games that rock:
Taiko Drum
Pump It up
In the Groove

What do you play?
P.S. in the other thread it only listed 3 options of difficulty. The last time I counted there where 6: beginner, light, standard, heavy, oni nonstop(normal and oni). I quit ddr a month ago though after playing for 4 years.

I play Pop'n Music obsessively. I wish it were more popular in the US, though, because it's a great game.

I just got IROHA (12) home version and that's been on heavy rotation here for the past week. :p

Instead of playing Guitar Freaks or DDR, wouldn't it be wiser to learn how to play guitar or dance without a machine telling you where to move?

Taiko Drum is fun, but annoying when I'm trying to work and SOMEONE decides to play the toxic song on it over and over and over again...

I hate when mom is babysitting...

I don't think there's a matter of it being "wiser." Additionally, many people who like DDR or Guitar Freaks already know how to dance or play guitar, in my experience.

Anyway, that's also one good thing about Pop'n Music... it doesn't simulate ANYTHING specifically.

It's a music simulator. It says on the box.

Yes, but my point being that it doesn't simulate a SPECIFIC instrument. Even within a song you play the part of various instruments, switching throughout.

Pop'n'music is the best game ever.

In fact, I think shall play this game shortly.

DDR is good for white people, because as you know, white people can't dance. But seriously, I've never seen anyone break out the DDR at a club or dance of any kind so I doubt it's dance-teaching powers.

I have seen people go crazy on a DDR at the arcade. They're like doing breakdance moves and are all over the place.

Not saying DDR taught them how, just saying that it's a game that can attract dancers too.

It may not teach you how to dance but at least it makes you active and is a game for those people who just can't sit still for too long... like many people in my family x.x

David Bowie can dance. And he's the thin white duke.

That aside, PnM Iroha (12) is really, REALLY amazing. I'm still unlocking songs, though.

Agreed.
I'd like to know why you obviously contradict yourself.
And please, be elaborate on your hate for DDR.

This comment can be precieved pretty rudely. :/
I've seen people throw some pretty awesome routines together with DDR.
Oh, and DDR does teach you some pretty basic steps. For most if not all songs if you stick with the beat you can get some jumpy happy hardcore moves going on.

I played ddr for three years and I couldn't think up a new name for myself because I'm lazy. If I had to pick a new name it would be "J-?!". I retired from ddr a few months ago because I AA'd PSMO (paranoia survivor max oni) that was the last song I needed to have all songs from all mixes AA'd. I'm done and moving on to better things. The songs suck, the steps suck, and ITG is much, much better/harder.
The DDR in my name could also stand for a DDR rom drive in your computer. Ever think of that? no? I thought so. Also there are companies that are called DDR.
BTW: beatmania IIDX us is kinda lame but if you don't have any other beatmania at all then it rocks.

Actually, V was originally Vavaldi's four seasons and then it was put into IIDX 9 or 10 I think and then it was put into ddr. :D

I'm having fun with it so far. I suck ass though. Seeing that I'm working at 3 star songs on Beginner... but yeah. Fun.

I'm thinking of getting my PS2 modded. Do you know any IIDX styles that are Beginner friendly? ;o

U.S. release is so beginner friendly it's not even funny. If you play normal 7k on any jp releases you will get smoked even if you play hard on U.S. IIDX.

Kirby! I got to play on an asc two weeks ago. I played 9th and then went over to pop'n and played 12th and 11th on the pop'n asc. The pop'n asc is great but I hated the IIDX asc.

This place lags of Bemani fanboys/fangirls. XP

I'm mostly into Pop'n Music alot. (I even put photos of my PoMu gameplay and character-sprite moments! Yes. One of the rare arcades has Pop'n Music, along with Beatmania IIDX (GOLD) and others as well. :)) But also like Beatmania IIDX and DDR. (Suck at GuitarFreaks because i'm not much of a guitarlist. XD)

Bemani games I own are DDR (Extreme 2 and SuperNOVA), Beatmania (US), and Pop'n Music Carnival, without ASC or anything to start playing. XD (I can't wait for FEVER. X3 V-RARE!)

(Also, that I am interested in Pump it Up, but because those BGAs got me started. One machine nearby, but never been to this arcade. ^^; )

So... Any to talk to or make some disscussion of PoMu? :X

Whatever. But it's not fun me being alone in love with the music-game series... =x=

And a bit off: I created a clan for all music-game lovers, even for Bemani or not. :D Lets hope anime fans has a taste for DJing or dancing gaming! X3

Geesh, a bunch of you are like no fun. o_o Doesn't matter if DDR's not really dancing or whatever... could just be addictive.

Old topic, but I'ma post anyway...

Music games rawk. I really like Para Para. It's one of the few games that actually encourages freestyle and more realistic dancing. Er... if you consider Para Para realistic or something. Even though it's really not popular and some people don't do the right moves... but it's fun. xP

Aaaand I like DDR, though I haven't played it enough recently. Pop'N is cute and fun, but it's hard for a newb to find good songs cause I dunno if this is normal but we have like a 30-second timer over here. x_X Uhh... I tried to play Drummania and it was fun, but I dunno. IIDX has the best music but uh, heh, I can't play it well for beans. xP

Something I'm not understanding is why IIDX players are starting to really hate DDR. If not, they've hated it for a while. I find that sad. It makes me want to... not like IIDX. o_o

Is it safe to assume there are very few fans of DDR characters here...? D: Also sad. *hugs 5th mix Rage*

Also, person above me, I do believe I've seen you before in a number of places. :0

IIDX hates DDR because DDR somehow mooch songs from IIDX, and believe the steps... Are like crap. (But there are some good ones, I swear.) D: I can do okay @ IIDX, but not a pro.

I like DDR, and because it's the only Bemani game that I can acutaly buy and play for PS2. Also my first.

Also own Pop'n, but with no modded PS2 is no fun. XD

I played ParaPara like once. Liked the soundtrack, but I feel like a looser. XD

And as for a Pop'n superfan, I play that alot. To keep track of what kind of songs (and characters) they have, I check it's offical websites. It's hard like IIDX, but with good practice (both arms and brain. XD), you can pass like a Pop'n King/Queen. :D

And if you been to BemaniStyle before, the same name applies here as "Timer Rabbit", or just "Timer". Minit's prooves it.

Haha. I won't mind playing ITG sometimes. It's just to rare for me. (The only time i've come and play is @ Disneyland. LOL)

It's harder allright. (Even more harder if you actualy intalled some fan-made simfiles into the R21 ready machine. DX 1000 Words by Koda Kumi = 12-footer. HELL!)

I also want to play Pump it Up because of those cool BGMs. XD

But... Back to Bemani.

If you are a rapid Pop'n Music fan (like me), and that one day Konami is planning to release it for the US...

http://www.bemanistyle.com/forum/f9/somewhat-official-beat-n-groovy-thread-31264/

Go to page 2 for pics. It's for the X-Box Live Arcade.... And has the Pop'n feel and songlist... But not the character art. (Which thats the issue from angry fanboys/fangirls.)

I don't really mind... But I just miss the old work. ^^; (Except I love the bunny.)

Any comments? (And yes. Trying to bring myself back active, as well this. Sorry to wake up a OLD thread.)
