i have been creating a manga based with demon's and fantasy creatures -and plot falling back onto a war that had taken place 500 years before the characters Kahen and Ashura you meet in the begining. My manga's genres are action, fantasy, drama and romance.

Does TokyoPop like these types of things (if they're done to perfection -aiming at the American crowd and the aimed age group [my manga's aimed for 16+])

here's my logline:

LOGLINE: The story of 6 outlaws fighting to get back what they’ve lost in their emotional journey and coming together to face their common foe in hope of taking back the 3 worlds (Man, Fantasy and Dead*). Together they must rebuild the ultimate sword that slew the Wolf Emerald of Hell 500 years ago, as the day she returns is soon…sooner than they think as this time there is no hero to save them as their hero becomes the one thing they swore to destroy.

-is there anything i should make clearer or you don't understand -please tell me!

*There are 3 worlds, World of Man; our every day world we live in.
World of Dead; heaven and hell where you go whenyou die
World of Fantasy; a world full of things only seen in dreams, this
world is owned by wolves also known as the Wolf Kingdom…

if you want i can post on my story summery (note that it's long :D but very good in my opinion :D )

They are looking for, as per their submission page, "anything but superheroes". I can't remember if they specifically say "great stories", but I think that's also implied. :3

Luckily for me my summery fits on one page!! [Laugh]
And heck no it isn't about super heros (though their are goodguys and badguys as in every story [laughs] i may just be talking myself up but i feel it's a great story but hey -that's not totally my call.

Like Klawzie said, they're looking for great stories by great artists who can tell said great stories.

Generally, that doesn't entail fantasy stories. They aren't confident in their new amateur artists to carry out some giant Quest for the Five Thousand Shards of the Magical Kunzite Crystal That Might Bring About the Destruction of the World if Kumabubu Gets A Hold of It type story. So, basically, anything grounded somewhat in reality is a good bet, because it's easier to write and tell. At that, it appeals to their target audience on a broader range. Anything that can hook teenage girls (and a few boys) will sell. Take, for example, Loveless. This manga is about catboys -- yes... so it certainly entails fantasy elements; however, it's not a fantasy STORY. It's grounded in reality, and the characters have (to some extent) emotions and normal looking clothing and stuff.

I wouldn't say that Tokyopop is looking for specific genres -- just that they're NOT looking for specific ones for the time being.

Especially that sometimes it's difficult to determine the genre...:confused:

As a quick outside topic thing that I found amusing, was in the rules for the RSOM it was saying something about no nudity or large amounts of gore but then it said (though it would be enjoyed by a large amount of the staff) or something like that ^^;;
