View Full Version : Portfolio review schedule
Have there been any decisions on when/where public portfolio reviews will take place this year? The schedule page (http://www.tokyopop.com/aboutus/news.php) still lists all those of 2005, and the Manga Online page (http://www.tokyopop.com/mangaonline/submissions.php?viewPage=sub_reviews.htm) still mentions 2005 as well, though I seem to remember seeing a 2006 date last month. Will they just be announced monthly, or will there be a longer schedule released at some point?
Also, the schedule page mentions art school visits- do these still occur? And if so, which ones are on your list? I doubt mine is (CIA (http://www.cia.edu)), but it can't hurt to ask.
Thanks.

LOL Sorry, but I think it's hillarious that you go to a school with the intials CIA.
ANYWAY, It appears that Tokyopop is kind of cutting back on their con appearances -- at least, they aren't bringing that giant booth with them. Who knows, though. I'd love to know if they're going to be doing portfolio reviews, too. I can't wait to blind people with my AWESOME! (haha kidding).
Yeah, it's always a conversation starter... ah well. At least my bumber stickers have the innate power to turn heads.
I figured that was the case... hmm. I probably wouldn't have been able to make it to their con appearances anyhow; cons are on my list of "definitely not affordables". bah. I'll hold out hope for school appearances, I guess. Maybe get a little of that elusive blinding awesomeness for myself.

I think we're still finalizing our portfolio review schedule for the year. For right now, I'd say San Diego Comic-Con is a safe bet. Beyond that would just be speculation on my part. Jeremy and Rob are usually really good about getting the word out as soon as our appearances are confirmed, so keep your eye on the TOKYOPOP forum and on Manga Online for news on where we'll be appearing.
As for schools, we still visit them. Lillian recently did a presentation at Williamstown, Jeremy visited SVA, and I'll be at the Academy of Art in San Francisco on Friday and will be participating in SCAD's Editor's Day event in May.

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for confirmed appearances.
No schools around mine, then, oh well~... maybe someday I'll manage to convince the head of my major to convince you guys to pay a visit to CIA. I can dream, right? Guess I'll just focus on RSOM in the meantime.
Thanks again.
