I'm familiar with her.... She's one of those authors I think is extremely good, but.... I don't much like the stories in the end. >_>

Which ones have you read?

Rose Daughter, Beauty, Spindle's End and Door in the Hedge. (I think I've got the titles correct, anyway.)

The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown are great.

All her books are good, though some are more adult than others. Beauty is a must though.

Hmm ever read Sunshine? It's quite quite interesting... Made me want to eat some pastries after... (the craving for pastries makes sense...)

Deerskin is worth reading, as well as her different versions of fairy tales like Beauty and Rose Daughter.

Oh! I have Sunshine and Deerskin too. o.o

I'm one of those people who loves happy endings, rather than "it's up to the reader to decide". I obviously enjoy her enough to read her books, and I own nearly every book I mentioned (I don't think I have "Beauty" though). Nearly all her books end with a big fat ??? - which makes me go, "arr...???"

Beauty is a must though.

Beauty is my absolute favorite of McKinleys works. I keep haunting the used book stores so I can actually own a copy, but it seems to be one of her lesser-known titles.

The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword are classics, though. *^-^*

I've read Deerskin and Sunshine. They were all right, but sometimes she tendes to drag on the story a bit too long. That happened in Deerskin especially. It went okay until she lived in the wilderness for the second time. As she was explaining Deerskin's day-to-day life I kept thinking, 'how much longer of this?'
By that time I was more interested in the relationship with the prince than her day-to-day life out in the mountains.

Oh! I've read all of those, too! I haven't read any of her new ones like Sunshine or anything, though

Hero and the Crown was my first and favorite. I didn't much like "Outlaws of Sherwood" much, though. It was dry. I like how she tells you how the characters think, they are so brave but still human. Foltza are cool and I always wanted a Talat. I still read it every so often :)

I'm pretty sure it's been reprinted and they sell it on amazon :)

I got some of her books as a present awhile back but haven't read them yet. I think I have Beauty. And Blue Sword. And the Robin Hood one?

hero and the crown was my first, and now i'm hooked. i loved the outlaws of shrewood, but it is very differnt from most of her other books. the style is changed. it's a good retelling of the robin hood story though

It's been several years, but I remember loving The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword. Maybe I should check out her other books.

I do believe that "The Hero and the Crown" was one of the finest books I read last year.

be sure to read the blue sword then, because it is a sort of sequel

I have loved all the books that I have read by her: Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword, Spindle's End, and most recently...Sunshine. Oh gosh...I'm still gushing about Sunshine...I really really really love that book. I also would like to read the sequel if she ever writes it, because that ending...it was totally begging for a sequel!

that ending did beg for a sequel, i think that's one reason why I can't stop thinking about it, there wasn't enough closure (sp?) for me.

Hmm, it's strange. I respect the author and continue to read her works, but like Klawzie said, almost every book of her's I've read leaves me thinking "eh?". She also seems to drag on about things I don't think anyone really cares about. I always find myself thinking "OK, get back with the story!" It's like the book goes on and on about weird stuff that's not particularly important (I'm always waiting for more of the relationship between the heroine and her man that when it comes is always really fast and scattered about the book) and then there's always a really sudden and confusing end conflict. Heh. I've read The Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword, Spindle's End, Sunshine, the Robin Hood one(don't remember what it was called), and part of A Door in the Hedge. I think The Blue Sword is the only one I'm actually really really fond of. Sunshine irritated me. It's supposed to be about vampires and the vampire man only shows up like 3 times. And since I was waiting for the part when they'd get together, it was dissapointing to see so little of him. Plus that book really screams the need of a sequel.

I really enjoyed Sunshine. I read that she wants to do a sequel, but has writer's block, is what I can gather.
