Definitely newer games.
I can get through most new games in a weekend if I rent them. Older games still take time, and there are many I still cannot finish.
Older games were definitely tougher, which was good.
I find a lot of newer games are being dumbed down for the youth of today.

Newer ones, obviously. I mean, for one thing they used to be a challenge. They had to be to keep your interest. And there was no saving either. You had to play it through in a single session and if you were out of lvies, you lost. Nasty.

Newer ones are easier... too easy, in fact. Something's wrong when I can go through FF7 without stopping to level, and beat the game with no difficulty on my first time through. FF1, though, I still need to level up at parts... not to mention the long queue of NES games that I've never come close to beating. (I suppose I should get back into Star Soldier sometime?)

The newer ones are easier, yet the older ones have really simple levels compared to newer ones, so I think the older ones can be easier but yet you can't save, so if you die, your screwed. So it's a tough call.

Depends on the game.
There are harder old game but there are also easy old games. (like FF7 dunno001 it's not that new anymore it's been 9 years since it got out)
There are harder new games (for me) like Star Ocean:Till The End of Time and Arc The Lad:Twilight of The Spirites. (in both games I am in the last battle and it's to hard)
So I voted neither.

Eh, depends on where you draw the line. I was around for the Atari, so I draw the 'new' line at the PS1 generation. But the same holds true for Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for the PS2...

I'd say new is anything after the 16-bit era myself. AT least for consoles.for computer games, anything that didn't get supplied on 12 floppy discs.

I say old games are a lot more difficult than most of the new ones, some new games keep the imposible-to-beat tradition I mean CONTRA!!!! jajajajaja I love those games

Newer ones are easier, but I am working through Digital Devil Saga 2, and there are definitely parts in there where I have had to go back a few times to beat the bosses. Never happened to me in other RPG's.
Older games you couldn't save in which made them harder by default, except you can save in their reincarnations. FFIV Advance lets you save all over the place.

I'd definitely say old.
Those games involved so much challenge.
Now games are basically a running tutorial. Lol.
