From what I've heard, Viz has also licensed Full Moon wo Sagashite, and the first DVD will be available June of this year. I heard from animenewsnetwork, but I don't have much familiarity with that particular site so I'm not sure whether it's true or not.
Is anyone able to confirm whether this is true or not?
And if so, what is your general views on Viz licensing the anime? (If not, who licensing the anime?)

Yup it's true. I've seen a few episodes, I might buy it. The release schedule kind of sucks though, they're only releasing it quarterly.

As long as the songs are translated, I'll buy it. I love this series.

I have to say, I'm not that huge a fan of the anime. It's okay, but the animation could be better. It will be quite interesting to see what they do with Mitsuki's singing voice: if they translate the songs, then they'll have to find someone who can sing; if they leave the songs, then they're going to have to at least try to match Mitsuki's English voice so it's not a drastic change from speaking to singing. I wish them luck whichever way they decide to go.

I'd say it's true. (http://www.viz.com/news/newsroom/2006/02_sbhv.php)
I never really got into Full Moon. I watched a few episodes because my friends said it was so good, but it didn't really thrill me.

Anime News Network is a very good and trustworthy site, if they ever make mistakes they tend to be very quick to correct themselves. I check it every day!
Anyway, while I'm glad Full Moon is licenced I am disappointed in Viz's release schedule... one foure episode DVD quarterly means it'll take ages to be fully released - it's a 52 episode series after all! Oh well at least it's not 4Kids (not that 4Kids would touch Full Moon with a 10 foot barge poll, I mean two of it's main characters are angels of death/shinigami).

Viz also released Maison Ikkoku in wonderful box sets. It could happen again, I hope so actually.

It probably will but it still means that they'll likely be a while away :( If I do buy Full Moon I'll probably buy it in boxsets as I'll likely have to import the R1s over here and Boxsets are better in that case... Unfortunately shojo anime isn't that popluar in the UK and magical girls even less so. :( We only really have Pretear, and dub only Sailormoon and Cardcaptor DVDs/Videos.

Let's cross our eyes... I mean fingers... and hope for the box sets! :D
Blah! I don't even want to think of 4Kids doing anything with FM.

Personally, I think VIZ does a pretty damn good job, unlike certain other translators/editors. In the manga business, I'm tempted to say DelRey is the best (oh, sacrilege -- I'm on a TP board!), but for anime, I've always thought Manga Corps played pretty true to the original ideas, though they Americanized the jokes.
If you're going to whine about Americanizing jokes, please: don't. Just watch it subbed. They put things out so that the general public can view them and understand, they don't just cater to h-core Japanophiles.
All-in-all, VIZ does a good job with keeping true. Tokyopop does NOW, with some of their newer titles, and they did at the beginning, but somewhere in the middle they sucked more than I'd like to think possible. I never finished buying a few titles because of it -- I just ordered the originals. Overall anime and manga publishing has gone up in the last couple years, in part because knowledge of Japanese culture and jokes has assimilated itself with the growing range of viewers and fans, and also in part because people whined their asses off.
Congratulations, whiners: you won. And we all thank you for that.

I like the manga--Up to volume 4 of it, that is--And I love it. I'm just not sure whether I'm going to buy the anime, since it has so many episodes...
But Shojo Beat is (supposedly) going to send out a one-episode preview with their next magazine, so maybe I'll change my mind. I dunno.

Thats good, Full Moon is great. However it they have the female actors from D.N. Angel, the dub will be scary.

Full Moon wo Sagashite has a ton of angst in it, and it's the epitome of shoujo manga. I really like it though, because of all the angst :3
Quarterly releases could take a long long time. I'm going to get the first DVD, and then decide from there. Quarterly releases are easy on the wallet(A VERY GOOD THING) but it keeps you stuck on a cliffhanger for a long time. Full Moon wo Sagashite's English dub partially worries me, but if the dub's no good, I'll just watch the subbed version.
It'll be interesting to see what they do to the Japanese song inserts though. Nearly as interesting as the questioning of showing Naruto's sexy no jutsu performance on Toonami.

I was wondering how long the manga might be because it cost too much to buy all of the volumes.

i agree that the manga is better than the anime. but the anime is still somewhat good. i wouldn't really say it sucks because it's still sweet. ok to the post i already have all the full moon wo sagashite episodes burned(a friend did it) on a disk in japanese tho, before the company bought it. does that mean i have illegal disks??? or does that not count?

The manga's only 7 volumes with 6 out currently. The final volume will be out October 3.

Be glad that quarterly releases will give you time to save up some money for the DVD's. :)
I don't think I'll buy it. I saw it and I didn't really like it.
