I own the old bulky PS2 and its so loud when I play on it. My question is the slim design quieter then the old design?

Well, it's slimmer! Bwahahah!

But seriously, my brother has it and it's really good. However! PS3 is coming out soon why not wait for that.

EDIT: Oh and it doesn't make that much noise o_o

With The PS3 being region free, you can play imports without modding your PS3.

ur original ps2 makes sounds because its getting old you know through the years of playing it. The slim ps2 is much quiter and wont make a loud sound because its cd holder is the same design of the ps1 and even after years and years of using a ps1 its still wont make a sound so yes the slim ps2 is quieter than the original ps2 seen?

I have the slimmer PS2, but I'm gonna have to disagree with most of you. To me it's kinda noisy. When it first comes on it's makes these beeps, then the disc winding up is kinda loud. Sometimes you hear that disc winding humming every once in a while you play the game too. After playing it for a while it starts making a weird humming noise like it's trying to cooldown.

Of course I only hear them I have the sound off and the room is moderately silent. So maybe they are just normal.

Anything with a cd drive's gonna maek some noise. It's the way things work. Generally you jsut don't notice it.

Yea maybe I'm just weird for playing without sound and noticing.

I think that the PS2 slim is louder as well...and has more problems.

I can play my music and still hear it...or maybe it's because it was broken when I bought it and tried to return it but the store wouldn't take it and now I hate it...just lovely.
^.^
it was brand new too.

Does anybody know how much the PS3 will cost?

I don't know about you guys, but I've had my PS2 (original fat one) for 4 years already, and the most sound it makes is the sound of the disc turning when you turn it on. That's good enough for me.
As for the slimmer PS2, I couldn't get that anyway. That thing is so thin, with all my neices running around, it would be snapped in two. Anyway, I heard that it could only run for about 8 hours straight at a time.

well it does make a noise but its not as loud as the original ps2, neways it would be trying to cool down since it has no cooling fan...

You do know that you're not suppsoed to play for 8 hours straight anyway? It's there in all the manuals; "take a fifteen minute break every few hours. This is a health warning. Do no tignore it."

Lol, like I said, something I heard. Mostly for the more hardcore gaming fans.

How hot does the slim design get if there's no cooling fan?

Aratos

It sitll has airvents.

AniGamer
06-15-2006, 08:21 AM
airvents yes but nothing blowing into it, just allows heat to escape but still pretty bad idea if you play it in the summertime with no air conditioning on at home, or u can use a conventional fan or the mini dollar store fans.

To shadowmoses: it gets hot to the point were if you open it and touch the inside ull pull back your hand and say sst! or oww!

AniGamer
06-15-2006, 08:23 AM
the original ps2 also gets that hot but not as fast

I want to replace my old PS2 but now I'm not sure if I should buy the slim design. I know I won't get the PS3 until there's a price drop, which most likely will happen after two or more years after launch.

I have the slim PS2, but it's hooked up to an insanely loud stereo system so I can't really answer if it's noisy or not. But there's a solution to your problem. XD

The old PS2's do take a while but they do get real hot. Some how though, mine has a lot of trouble playing CD's. It plays DVD's just fine. I can barely ever get CD's to work. I'm on my second one because I got impatient and tried to take it apart and clean it because it was having trouble reading games one day. Lessons to learn...don't be ghetto and use a knife as a screwdriver and wait till you get home to some real tools.
