Does anyone like L'Arc~En~Ciel? They were the first Jrock/pop band that I listened to, and they are still my favorite. How about you guys?:rolleyes:

HYDE was the first jrocker. i prefer his solo work more than his group work. larc isnt that bad, but they get too high ratings for their songs imho.

I love them. I probably got into them because I watch Fullmetal Alchemist, and they have READY STEADY GO as an opening song, and other songs from the movie.

I like L'Arc~en~Ciel. My friend got me into them and then I went to a convention where they showed lots of their videoes and I fell in love with them more. I like their name: rainbow.

You can listen to some of their songs at my website: hikaruhoshi.com... I really like them and I would really like to see them in the US sometime. Anyone know when they are coming to the US next? If they went to Chicago or Minneapolis, I could go to them.. I live in the midwest, so that would be best for me.

L'arc en Ciel is awesome. There my favorite band along with High and Mighty Color and Gackt they were also the first J-rock band i really got into. My favorite songs from them would have to be Driver's High, Ready Steady Go, and Lost Heaven.

I am certain Laruku won't come back to the USA before a while, but they did say they'd like to in a interview with Tofu Records here (http://tofurecords.com/features.php?featureid=0004)
And they are my favorite band. <3 Contrarily to Shipuh, HYDE's solo work really doesn't appeal to me as much as his work as hyde. He tries to have a weird style too much... While Laruku is all about showing that they're laid back. xþ
Oh gosh guys have you seen the interview of hyde and ken at Matthew's Best Hit TV? It's hilarious! XD;
My favorite song... I love All Dead, AS ONE, Niji (which means Rainbow in japanese BTW ^.^), STAY AWAY, Coming Closer and New World... Ok that's quite a lot. :þ But I've been hooked to READY STEADY GO for a year now 'cause it helps me wake up (I start dancing all around my room XD) and I haven't even seen that Full Metal anime-thing. Heh.
Though my fave PV is STAY AWAY. ^.^ They're hawt. And I love their choreography at the end!

Larc~en~ciel is probably one of the best JRock groups that's been around for more than 10 years... my favorite songs are probably Blurry Eyes from DNA2, Fourth Street Cafe from Rurouni Kenshin, and New World from Awake... I also like Hyde's new song Season's Call from Blood+... that's a great song!

They are very overrated. I will say that Loverboy is a good song though. And Hyde looks very, very bad in stocking caps.

Haven't seen of any picture of him with those...
And yes, Loverboy is one of my faves from Awake. Gosh Yukihiro is an awesome drummer.
As to if they are overrated or not, I don't think so. They couldn't get such a large following if they didn't make good music. They aren't only popular here, they are a lot in Japan too.
What I like best is that they were professionnal sounding from the start. They ARE professionnals, it's what they do for a living, and they know darn well how to do it.
Only thing that kinda bugs me is how much they try to follow the fashion trends in Japan... hyde's style just changes drastically so often! The other band members too (but they layed off a bit). Though they look hawt in any style they choose, I don't like fashion-following people. Though I do understand fashion is a really big thing (and to-the-extremes thing) in Japan. They are professionnals and gotta answer to what they fans like, I guess.

They have a few albums out in the U.S. I'm sure that if a few other j-rock albums where released as loosely then they would get a similar response from all the lazy's out there who don't have the brain power to delve into the subject matter more extensively.

I don't like it when peoplle deliver only what their fans want. The should make artistic decisions for themselves, not just their fans. If their fans don't like then it doesn't matter. There will always be other people who'll like them no matter what.
I'm not sure if what I just said came across very clearly... But if anyone has ever read "Catcher in the Rye" by JD Salinger then that might shed some light.

I like Laruku. But I really love Tetsu. He's so hot!!!! But anyway, they are a really good band. I like Dive to Blue. And they do what they please, not what the fans want. They just happen to please their fans. That is what a good band is.

yea...They were one of the first people i heard. I love tetsu...that hot bassist, but anyway, they are a good band. It's easy to get their stuff in America and all. I'm in a big "snow drop" phase, but i don't have the song. Does anyone know where i can get it?

personally, i have never listened to them, and i find it highly ironic that a rock band's name means rainbow in french...

Ironic how? :(
I don't like L'arc at all besides a few songs and I think they're hugely overhyped but that's probably just me. Hyde's voice in recent years has gotten so bad that anything new they put out doesn't appeal to me. His voice was so gorgeous ten years ago. D:

how could it be anything other than ironic when a ROCK band's name means RAINBOW..... it is supposed to be something tough like metallica or Guns n' Roses...

well, L'Arc~En~Ciel isn't coming as one group, but Hyde is coming on his solo tour, I think. I sent in my entry for a contest to win tickets today.

dude...rock bands don't always have the coolest names. but i like L'Arc's name...it sounds French.
hee, I really like L'Arc~En~Ciel. They were one of the first anime-song groups I listened to. Lost Heaven is a good song.

NO... crappy american ROCK bands are supposed to have 'tough' sounding names to prove that besides all the spandex and make-up they wear, they aren't actually gay... unless they're Scissor Sisters... Larc is a JRock band, so they can choose whatever name they want, and it doesn't have to sound 'tough', cause it's a completely different style of ROCK than metallica, guns 'n roses, poison, ac~dc, or any of that other crappy 80's rock...
@no one in particular>
On another point, I'm really looking forward to Hyde's solo album... I've already heard two songs off it, and one of them was the second opening theme for a series called Blood+, which apparently Sony licensed and will be releasing in the US.
