I don't see any other threads about it, so... Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I was just wondering, are there some sort of rules or whatever as to how far adaptations of mangas are actually allowed to stray from the original source material etc? I mean, the only one I've read where I've noticed any major differences was the Battle Royale manga, and that was only becasue I know the plot off by heart and I'd heard from folk what the original version's like. But i've been told a lot of other adaptations wind up in the same sort of situation. I mean, do you have some sort of guidelines so the editor can swoop down on anyone that goes too far overboard or anything? It's jsut something that's always kinda irked me.
