Devil May Cry should just come packaged with every new PS2 unit. You can't own a PS2 and not play this game...it's the law. I think that when we grow old and look back fondly at the glory days of PS2 the vast majority of gamers are going to remember playing the Devil May Cry, Onimusha, and Metal Gear Solid games.

I have 1, 3, and 3:special edition. Dante is cool, but Vergil is AWESOME! Devil May Cry was the third game I beat on my PS2. I had just got one and finding out what were the good games.

I have all 3, and I think their all awesome. Only down side to me, is that I don't like the way you have to stay in the freaking castle the WHOLE time on the 1st game X.X. Other than that, woohoo.

I have 1, 3, and 3:special edition.

BTW, what's so different about the special edition?

You can play as Vergil and all his awesomeness plus some more extras. When DMC 3 turned into a greatest hits, it was replaced with DMC 3:special edition. You can't buy the original anymore. So it is only $20 or less.

I didn't bother with the second DMC. I was told that it wasn't too good, so I saved my money for something else. The third one was good though, I just wish the fighting styles leveled a little quicker.

The second one sucked major ***. Seriously, true fans of the series find this one repulsive. I only played so I could say that I beat it and keep up with the story, which also was lame. The only good thing about this game was the ULTIMATE devil trigger. DT when your health is in the red and you transform into this wicked dark devil form. It has the most powerful attack in the DMC series-Dark Aura Stream. It kills any enemy and virtually all bosses.

It seems they left the best part of the second game out of the third game..
A friend of mine played it and he said it was garbage. He liked that horrible Tomb Raider game that came out before Legend, which just about everyone knows is crap, so for him to say a game was bad is really bad.

You can't fight the bosses like regular enemies. You have to remember their moves and patterns a little bit and know when to attack. If you don't, you'll end up on your back before you can say,"Damn!"

I have the 1st one. It was the first game i ever got for the PS2 and i still love it and go back and play it frequently. Its so awesome. I hated the 2nd so much i was so disapointed i don't even count it as one of the series. and i use to have 3 but not anymore but im gonna go get 3:Special Edition soon.

The DMC3 Special Edition is nifty, because of Vergil. However, I still think Dante is a more versitile character compared to his brother.

I'm actually stuck on the third mission with that stupid cerberus thing. I would have beaten it long ago if not for the fact that every time you buy a healing orb the price jacks up. That just pisses me off.

Cerebus, eh? Which style are you using? Trickster works best throughout the whole game, overall, and I highly suggest using it to your advantage against all boss battles. When Cerebus attacks you in any way, shape, or form, either a) dash around like a madman or b) run up walls. That's how I did it.

Hmmmm....sounds like how I did every other battle so far, LOL.

chaos dragoon

You guys do to much. You don't have to run up the walls and stuff. You only have to know how to avoid his attacks. Here are some tips. Avoid standing directly in front of him. Most of his attacks will get you that way. Use ebony and ivory to wittle away the ice on his heads. As soon as that is off, get some hits in. As you destroy more heads, it will lose some attacks. To get him to sit, wittle away the ice on his legs and beat them down. Eventually he will fall down and you can attack his heads while standing on the ground. Trickster may be good, but the swordmaster works better for this battle. With swordmaster, wittle away the ice on his heads and then jump and do the aerial rave combo. His health will fall down pretty quick if you are fast enough.

But running up walls IS a way to avoid Cerebus' attacks, espcially when he freezes the ground and when he makes his oversized ice cicles rain from the sky.

And wait, no Vergil in DMC4? What? Why? What's Dante without his evil bro to make things more difficult for him? Agh.

well nero angelo in in the first dmc was vergil ad he was killed so by all logic he wouldn't be in dmc 4. but hey you never know... i hope he is and i hope that if he is he gets a better move set and better missions than in dmc 3.

He is not cheap. People say this because his Yamato is stronger than Dante's Rebellion for the damage per hit. But dante's combo's are longer. Actually most people say it is harder to play as Vergil than it is with Dante. That is only because Vergil is a tactical/methodical fighter and Dante is a crowd control-type fighter.

Here's some news on the 4th upcoming Devil May Cry game.

A new hero by the name of Nero emerges in the on-going saga of Devil May Cry. From Nero's perspective, Dante is an enemy who appears out of nowhere and kills his allies. What will he do about it?

Chronologically, the Dante that appears in this game comes after part 1 but before part 2 (the series chronology is 3, 1, 4, 2).

A trailer can be found here (media.ps3.ign.com/media/748/748464/vids_1.html).

EDIT: So I guess this means we have to kick Dante's ass? Wow.

I've played them all, they aren't too bad the first one was decent, the 2nd one kind of sucked, and the 3rd one was an attempt to capture the goodness of the first but ended up falling flat on its face.

As well If dead rising does good on teh 360 (game by capcom that is selling like hotcakes) there is a good chance the DMC series might appear on the 360.

After seeing the DMC 4 trailer, it got me excited. But's whats with the mustache Dante has? In the previous DMC trailers it had Dante standing in the snow infront of the castle, then a Dante walking in the street looking like a crack head, and then Dante, becoming the antagonist, getting a kick "face first" from Nero, the new protagonist. It's all kind of messed up. Hope the developers at Capcom will solve the new formula with Nero's devil arm, sword, and gun all in one. After reading that hands on review from Gamspot, it seems more like Beowulf handicap style.

I know how you guys feel...I received my Game Informer magazine from the mail and I saw the cover for DMC 4 and I started crying like a hysteric retard because I was happy that Dante is back (in a hotter look). But when I looked inside, I was half disapponted and half pissed-off.

I agree that DMC 3 is the best with it's wide variety of arsenal and fighting styles. The one I'm surprised with was one of the least unlikely weapons, "Nevan". I got excited that they have an electric guitar as a weapon except that there was only playing tunes and spinning blades. Why not just us it like a sword? I played it and it only has 2 hacks and slashes. To me it should be like breaking a guitar on concert, swing it around like a hammer, or just use like the Rebellion move "high time".

By the way you guys, I stumbled upon three trailers for DMC 2 & 3. The DMC 2 trailer was a live action that was only aired in Japan for the game. From the looks of the trailer, the CG effects and the actor was amazing (wished they aired it here in the US *pouts*). Dante's clothes rock, especially his matrix style gunslinging! But it's disappointing that the game suck while the trailer rocks. The other two trailers were live action for the DMC 3 game. The trailer for the motion action capture with stuntman doing all the crazy combos was really sick!

WTF are you talking about "...3rd one....but ended up falling flat on its face"?!!!

You MUST be a casual gamer to say that about the third and say,"...2nd one kind of sucked..."

What do mean "kind of"? It sucked so much I thought a star collapsed right on the earth!

Even if dead rising does do good, that doesn't mean anything for DMC 4. It's just too hard of a game for casual gamers. And it's been said the creator or producer or whatever wanted the game to be a little more challenging than 3.

Casual gamers are the reason that I disliked the fact of videogames becoming mainstream. They think they can pick up something, make a lame judgement, and expect it to hold water. But the true fans know the truth.

If you say that I'm just rambling, I beat DMD modes for 1 and 3. No codes. Just skill(and a bit of luck). There's no point in doing that for 2, it's just too easy and insulting just to play it. It was only good for the DDT.

I must be a casual gamer to say that.
lets see, I own right now 4 nes consoles 2 original american, and 2 revised top loading editions, 2 snes 1 original american, another revised slimline, n64 and the blue and yellow pikachu edition, 1 game cube.
Original american sega master system, 2 sega genesis, slimed genesis 2, genesis 3, sega cd for the original gen, and cd for the slim line, I own 2 saturns, 1 dreamcast.
I own 3 ps1's *original versions not the psOnes* 1 ps2.
Own an Xbox and an Xbox 360.

hmm yep I must be a casual oh and a modest stable of games nearing 600 titles.

The simple fact remains that DMC 3 fell flat on its face Oh people liked it but people are sheep and tend to follow trends, DMC 2 and 3 we're never as good as the orginal Game, the 2nd one wasn't this massively bad game every one makes it out to be it was just simply a lil bad worse then 1 and 3.

And even if dead rising does do it it means nothing? FIRST OFF dead rising is made by capcom if that game does amazingly well on the 360 they will be more then inclined to bring other games to the system, And Dead rising is doing amazingly well on the 360.

the DMC series is not hard, Ninja gaiden was hard, DMC 1 2 and 3 we're button mashers you could complete both games just pushing buttons, you cannot do that easily with ninja gaiden and ninja gaiden was a xbox only game.

oh and DMC is too hard for casuals? lol who do u think plays fighters? Casuals do. Some of the highest ranked ninjas on ninja gaiden online hurricane packs and tournies are..........CASUALS.

P.S: casuals outnumber, harcore gamers, they make the game industry this is fact.

I'll admit, you're right. I jumped the gun a bit when you said DMC 3 fell flat on it's face. *I responded like like a total vergilfanboy*

My apologies. But the thing about dead rising was thought out though. That's the game where you kill zombies, right? People are more inclined toward killing zombies than being half demon and slaying demons. If I have the wrong game in mind tell me. I've had a bit of trouble keeping up because of my job and first girlfriend. She's slowly turning me into a *ugh* normal person.

lol thats why i only find girls that are into video games or anime, so i dont have to break up with them once they try changing me and keeping me from having a video game collection....

Like i said DMC 3 wasn't a bad game but compared to 1 it did fall flat on its face because they we're trying to recapture the essence of dmc 1 and failed at doing it...

As for that actually it depends on who you are alot of people like being half demon and killing things. I'm just saying that if Dead rising a capcom game does extremely well on 360 which it is doing, then they will be more inclinde to bring other games to the system, namely if dead rising sells enough we might see DMC go multiplatform for the 4th installment.

Mind you all my hate towards dmc 1-3 is based upon opinion I just didn't like the games they were way to easy for me.

awww, i think we should just view the games an individuals =) you can't expect sequels (or prequels) to games to do as well as the originals. thats something seen rarely (i personally can't think of any games i've played that fit the bill).

and me, i guess being a casual gamer if according to the description above, didn't find DMC super easy. and i didn't find dead rising all that interesting either (my friend owns all the systems, so we try to keep unbiased opinions on everything =) slashing zombies does tend to get a bit old after a while, even if missions are involved.
it seriously all comes down to preference i think. i prefer demons over zombie since i find them more interesting, which obviously, isn't the case for other people =)

Actually, she's not turning me into a normal person, but into a nicer person. I actually agreed to not argue with my dad who has a habit of getting on my nerves. She isn't into that stuff, but doesn't insult it either. So it's okay.

Back on topic... Like you I also liked dmc 1 more than dmc 3, until I heard about the dmc 3:special edition. But nothing compares to the Sparda DT. I liked the feel and the tone fo the game. Dante was cool and confident, but not too cocky.

I'm not too fond of killing slow moving enemies like zombies. I like opponents who come at you with a fury and want to kick your ass almost as much as you want to kick theirs. But it might be good if capcom gets a lot of games to sell well on the 360. Them making more money means they will make better games.

I would buy a PS3 at release if DMC 4 was a launch title. Tekken 6 and maybe that 4th metal gear are also on my list. And Sonic too.
