I'm one that is just wondering What is the Difference between Manga and Anime? It makes no sense...I mean they both look the same so couldn't you call Manga Anime, and Anime Manga? I haven't really noticed any real difference besides that everyone has their Own Style, am I right? :D

Manga is the stuff on paper, anime is on the telly.
And usually, they actually have different artists doing the book, versus the series or movies. Like Inuyasha. LOVE the anime, the manga, I find just ok. It seems not quite as refined.

Also, keep in mind that in Japan, anything animated is called "anime" because all "anime" means is "cartoons". So therefore, they also call Teenage Mutant Turtles "anime" over there, wheras over here the word "anime" specifically refers to Japanese cartoons. Yes, I said it, anime is cartoons. There's nothing wrong with calling something a cartoon. If it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck, it's a duck!

I still dont Get it What is the Difference Manga can be put into animation so if said Anime is animation based and Manga is not then that would be the difference. But i hope the difference is Anime IS Put into Animation, and Manga is just the Comic Book Style:confused: :D

Depending on who you talk to, anime becaume the slang term for Japanimation, which is anmation from Japan(duh), manga is the Graphic novel format, most animes are based on mangas, however in certain cases, like Cowboy Bebop, the anime inspired the manga.

manga is the Japanese word for comic books. It came from the word "magazine". In Japan it refers to all comic books, including Batman. Here it refers specifically to comic books of Japanese origin, and many try to apply it to American made comic books drawn in the Japanese style.

manga = comic book
anime = cartoon

Simple?

Anime is short for Japanese Animation, while Manga basically means Magazine Comic.

anime --> on the televsision (like a much better type of cartoon)
manga --> on paper (like a much better type of comic)

You don't call a cartoon and a comic the same thing, now do you? =D

manga is comic. And Japanese comics are not superior to american comics either, if that's what you're insinuating. 90% of everything is crap, and that applies to manga too.

Saying manga is anime and anime is manga is like saying a book is a movie and a movie is a book one you have to read and the other you watch DUH!!! To say they are the same is absurd!:p

Lol. Yeah, anime is short for japanimation. Which is an art style that the japanese use. Manga is just on paper. (japanese comics)

*heehee* noob!!! sorry, but you must not be a hardcore manga/anime person. okay, here's a cool explanation::
*stuff you watch on t.v., like on adult swim, ex. inu yasha, that's like anime. have you seen yu yu hakusho on tv?? that's anime. stuff on video pretty much.
*now, stuff like comic books, i.e. Kodocha, Boys Over Flowers, Chobits, etc. things on paper are manga.
*these industries are two separate entities. i've heard that manga is its own story and anime is its own. [like anime can be based on a manga or vice versa.]
*get it?? ^.^

Anime is how those cheese eating Frenchies say "animation" and the Japanese stole it.

Manga is a Japanese word that means, roughly, "comics".

Why don't you like the Manga? Not enough filler as the anime? xD

Manga(漫画) (Chinese: Manhua, Korean Manhwa) "Disorganized or Whimsical Pictures..."
Well the word itself came into common use in the late 18th century, came from a combo of western drawing style and ukiyo-e and originaly depicted things like political satire and whatnot... Of course then Osamu Tezuka came along in the 20th century and revolutionized it to a more story based theme but that's where the word comes from...
In short Manga=Comics (And yes in Japan and in many Japanese book stores they are often labeled as such, コッミク (komikku))
Personally while stylistically they do tend to differ alot, due mainly I think to the fact that manga was influenced by Ukiyo-e and Japanese culture and writing. I personally think of comics and manga as different words for the same thing... even NA manga releases still don't have that Japanese feel to their artwork, which is fine. I enjoy NA comics just as much as Japanese ones and read them in their respective languages but the differences between the two I'd relate more to regional differences...

Anime (アニメ)
From what I understand it is an abriviation of アニメーション (animeeshon) taken from the English... (The fact that it's spelt アニメ (anime) rather than
アニメイ (animei) makes me doubt it's from the French) Japanese tend to abriviate things to the point of craziness and アニメーション (animeeshon) and
アニメ (anime) are often used as a different word to describe the same thing, which is animation in general. In Japan Japanese cartoons and American cartoon can both be considered anime, it's mainly in the west that anime is considered as a "Japanese thing" seeing as it just means animation in general.
Of course it's also called Japanimation in the west sometimes... @_@

Manga: you read it but you can't tell what the hair colors are in stuf and its stationary.
Anime: its in motion you get to see how the author of its manga version envisioned it to look like.
