What kind do you have? Can you not live without them? Which do you think are the best? Do you love or hate IPods? ...etc...etc....discuss
I own two...neither of which I bought myself, but nevermind. My dad gave me a Creative 256MB for x-mas a few years back. It's good for what I use it for..mainly listening to my fav U2 concert while working at the pottery studio. The main drawback is that it only take 1 AAA battery that runs down quickly and is not rechargable. My other one is a IPod Nano I won at a bar. It's a 2 GB which is all I really need and mainly download my fav podcasts onto it. As much as some really loath ITunes and such, I really like mine and have not had any problems with it.
My hubby can't live without his player. We all pitched in a got him a 40GB Creative 2 years ago for his b-day. He's never without it and has almost managed to fill the entire thing. He even goes to bed while listening to it and it's the first thing that gets plugged in when we're in the car. I sometimes think it was a mistake getting it for him :)

I just have a 30GB 5th gen iPod D: Nothing special.
But a long time ago I had an Olympus MR:100. The little player was awesome, but the software really really sucked. I'd still have it but I made the mistake of borrowing the device out to a friend. Didn't work when I got it back...

I have an 1GB Zen stone with I mainly use when I walk to school. I like that I just drag and drop the files to the player without any special software.

Well, currently I don't use a mp3 player (sticking with DS and psp) but I do plan on getting a new cell phone that is part mp3 player.
Like that new Motorola Q. :3

o_O Read between the lines meng?
I'm saying that I'm sticking to a portable gaming system rather than a mp3. Grant it that PSP's CAN play music, Ds can't and I only use those systems just for the gaming experience.

I have a 5th gen 30gb. I really like having an iPod and would recommend one to anyone. I haven't loaded any vids or anything on it so I don't know if it plays them cleanly through or not. I had heard that they tended to stop and go. But since mine is now "old" (had it for 5 months) and a new version is already out, maybe that feature was fixed.

Nope. It takes a triple A battery.

The DS can play mp3s, too, actually.
My friend refused to buy an iPod, so he had this (http://store.gameasylum.us/nidsndsmoplm.html) for his Nintendo Micro. You could also use it on a GBA SP or DS.
I have a 20GB iPod (It's an old school iPod! 4th generation--the screen is black and white. XD ), and the LG Chocolate with a 2 GB memory card.

I've been a fan of Creative products. I had a Nomad and a Touch and now I have an 8GB Zen V Plus.

I had a classic old ipod but it died on me. So like an idiot I bought another ipod product; I now own an ipod shuffle. Silver. It hasn't died on me yet, it was cheap, and the battery life is fairly lengthy. So I guess I'm pleased with it *knocks on wood*
Creative Zens rock. I want one, but I currently have no need for one... And no money.
EDIT: I've also got mah phone. But it's pretty crap MP3 wise. I just keep a coupla songs on it case my ipod battery dies.

Never seen anything like it. Looks... wrong. :/ I don't know why but I don't want to bother with that.
Never seen or heard anyone use it until now. A mod perhaps? Kuku.

oooooooh...kay?
Y'know, I always really hated iPods until one of my friends let me play around with hers and then I really wanted one but refused to admit it to anyone. I think they've got a pretty cool design and all that, but I still refuse to buy one.

What's all this hate for Ipod's? I have an 80 GB 5th gen Ipod and I love it. I have all my favourite anime's on there which I can watch on the bus on my way to work.
I find Itunes easier to organise my music and video's in than windows media player. Itunes also automatically downloads all my favourite podcasts when they are available, I don't have to do a thing!

I have an ipod nano that I adore, its the smaller 500 song one and does the job fine. Granted I might like it so much because it was a present from a friend hehe.

Easy: Mac products are evil. :]
Kaoru
11-15-2007, 10:05 PM
There's a reason you can't upgrade their computers, it's all that concentrated evil in the core. I'm sure it's the same for iPods. Actually if I am not mistake all iPods since the 4th gen have small hidden packets of a mystery chemical that releases itself into the user's bloodstream and very slowly turns the person into one of Steve Job's many sla--I mean a casual Mac user.

Concidering that I've been going a less than 1-gig mp3 player for umpteen months and only once or twice ahve I even had to worry about it being too full, yes that's very very wrong.

Depends on how much stuff you have to put on it. If you have a load of pod casts, auido books, 1000 + CDs, movies (if it plays em) etc etc why not upgrade? My husbands is a 40 GB which he's almost filled up and keeps switching stuff around on it to put more on - of course he also uses it all day long at work so it works for him. I don't see a problem with it.

I got a 30gig video iPod after I accidently washed my 8gig (they were the same price, go figure) and that thing was a lifesaver. We went and did training manuvers for a month and we had electricity in the tents from the generator, but it was never enough to run more than two or three laptops and we needed those for the Command Post. So I'd just go plug in my iPod into one of the computers before I went out and when I came back in, it was fully charged and I could listen to music or watch anime! And there was nothing else to do except stare at each other...

i want the new nano which play video's and holds more songs. I refuse to buy the bulky orignal ipod
maria100
11-27-2007, 09:01 AM
My Ipod isn't bulky. It's just a bit bigger than a credit card, but obviously a lot thicker. When I consider how big my external hard drive is (also 80gig) that I got a year ago, i marvel at how apple got all that memory into something so small.
The Nano's screen is smaller isn't it? How would you see the videos?

LOL go on then. It might go right over my head. I know flash memory is used on the smaller ipods but flash memory doesn't go up to 80gig (yet).
It has a hard drive, same as my computer and external hd.
Aratos
11-27-2007, 09:18 AM
Bingo! A harddrive. Made by one of Japan's top computer hardware companies at that. Altho I believe some ipod models do use FLASH memory - I believe 160gb's about the most we can get in those atm btw.
Aaanywho, basically it's all to do with very very small components. Technically as long as you have small enough parts you can get any capacity of HD pretty small.
Tajtan
11-27-2007, 01:31 PM
i thought the nano's were flashdrives and the big gen 5 ones were hard drives.
Aratos
11-27-2007, 01:47 PM
That';s what I said. Some models have FLASH (not flash!) and some have HD.

Why do you spell flash in all caps?
Tajtan
11-27-2007, 01:54 PM
for some reason we must speak in correct english with caps and punctuation in this thread. and "FLASH" must stand for something - consider me sufficiently chastened, toast, you big cranky butt!

News to me. Never heard of flash standing for anything.
Aratos

I've never heard of it standing for anything either, but it was a big part of the computer architecture unit I did. All the different kinds of ROM.

So spelling it in caps is pointless. Ok.

I was thinking about getting the 4 gig iPod Nano Video. Is it good? All I really have in videos are the Funimation anime and Mythbusters. I also have about 100 songs at the moment on iTunes. WIll it fit?

Easiest way to figure it out: Download iTunes from the Apple website (for free!), then add all your media to the library and see if the space for your prospective player would suffice.
Er, whatever you know what I mean D:<

Or just select thwm all and check the windows sidebar for the total size. Think WMP can tell you, too, iirc.
I assume other OS's also have that function...
oh, and 100 songs'd fit on less than a gig, assuming they're average length and mp3 or wma encoded.
