Does anyone here have Deleter ComicWorks. It was given to me as a birthday present, and I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. Anyone have any tips? It definatly is more difficult to understand when you've been using photoshop. :)

I've used ComicWorks to tone a few times
I'm not sure if what I do is the easiest way, but I think it's what it says to do in the manual...
open a new ink layer. Ink in the areas you'd like toned. Select them. On another ink layer, fill your selections with the screentone of your choice. Deselect and delete the first ink layer. You should be left with tone whever your selection was.
hope that helps ^^;

There are so many intricacies to ComicWorks -- it's amazing. When you open up the program the first time, it's easy to be disappointed. You look at it and think "well, this is kind of boring," because it only functions in black and white. The interface isn’t flashy, or even that ergonomic, but it works, and that's all that really matters, right?
For toning, I generally use the method that Echan mentioned. However, if you want that gradiated out look, like you scratched the tone out, you can do one of three things, which I think is pretty stellar. Since the eraser tool in ComicWorks sucks, they gave us the neat little function of allowing you to press X - which writes over black on that layer, with white, which in tern erases it. Now, to fade out the tone, you can use the eraser, which I don't really recommend, seeing as to how it bands, or, you could scratch the tone with either the Pen with inverted color, or, with the eraser at a very small point size without pressure sensitivity on, OR, you can use the airbrush tool after pressing "X".
I don’t know if that makes any sense, but ComicWorks is really just about experimentation. The more you use it, the more you will find little shortcuts that make doing your own work easier.

if you've been using photoshop, it should be similar to it.. wouldn't be so hard.. it has the same function, such as the layers. and everything is pretty straight forward. i suggest just playing around with it.. and you'll get the idea of the program. :)

Hey dear! I can show you some easier ways to work with CW at Anime Boston^_^V...trust me! there ARE easier ways to tone using the tones than that...especially if it's just the simple dot tones XDehehehe
*makes note to get laptop bag with wheels on bottom to bring around with her at AB as backpack it's currently in is heavy*>,<

I own deleter comic works... but there's a lot of limitations for example there's no curve tool >.<!! so you have to use a tablet 100% of the time, what is like re-drawing all your manga again in computer @_@

Thanks, that really gave some good insight. I've been playing around with it more. I'm pretty quick to learn things. I thought of how when I first used photoshop it was the same way...so just the more I practice the better ne? lol. I updated my latest practice run in deviant art, so I hope I'm on the right track. Thanks.
